- Dr. Cen studies college experiences of Chinese students, at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. Her research focuses on how students develop in college, as well as the contexts in which students learn and grow. She has been recipient of National Education Science Research Award, Shanghai Junior Professors Teaching Award, Chinese Government Award for Outstanding Student Abroad, OYCF-Gregory C. and Paula K. Chow Teaching Fellowship, AIR/NCES/NSF National Summer Data Policy Institute Fellowship, among other research and teaching awards. Dr. Cen teaches educational inquiry courses and research seminars, following the learning partnership model that validates learners' capacity in knowledge construction. At SOE, Cen is affiliated with the CSAHD, where she collaborates with her colleagues on several research projects on graduate education, study abroad programs, and alumni development. Dr. Cen serves as the assistant dean of SOE at the school. She is serving on the editorial board of Journal of College Student Development, and she is the first board member from Asia. Cen earned her B.A. in English Language and Literature and a B.A. in Economics from Peking University, and a Ph.D. in Education Policy Studies at Indiana University-Bloomington.
