2022 in Review: Academic Research

Education is one of the most important investments for a country. An interdisciplinary research team has been formed to write articles on achievements of education in China and compare that with the global counterparts. The research achievements will be published in a book entitled "Education in China and the World", which proposes constructive ideas on how to improve education in China and the world.

SOE will continue to promote research brand building, and develop organized research through activities such as research seminars and "meetings with editors-in-chief of journals face-to-face". In 2022, SOE published nearly 100 papers in English and Chinese academic journals and five books. The school will continue to publish academic journals such as "International Higher Education".

Shanghai Forum for Education Excellence 2022 (SFEE 2022) is the first of its kind and set to be one of the most important international academic conferences of SOE, SJTU. The theme of this year’s forum is “Futures of Education in the Post-Pandemic Era”, which explored the ways of cultivating creative K12 teachers and students for the 21st Century.”

The Center for World-Class Universities of Shanghai Jiao Tong University at SOE also held the 9th International Conference on World-Class Universities (WCU-9) on November 18, 2022. The theme for WCU-9 is “World-Class Universities: Challenges and Opportunities in the Post-Pandemic Era”, which shed light on WCUs’ challenges and opportunities in response to the changing landscape of higher education and our society as a whole.
