Recently, LU Yahua, a PhD candidate of the School of Education, attended the 84th Annual Meeting of the Academy of Management (AOM 2024) and gave a report. The AOM conference is an influential annual conference of the international management community. This year, AOM was held in Chicago, USA, attracting more than 10,000 teachers, researchers, and students from around the world in the field, with the theme of Innovating for the Future: Policy, Purpose, and Organization.

LU Yahuas presentation was titled The relationship between leadership and team creativity: A meta-analysis. This study conducted a meta-analysis of 232 relevant articles to explore the relationship between different types of leadership styles and team creativity and their boundary conditions. The results show that there was a significant positive correlation between positive leadership style and team creativity, while negative leadership styles were significantly negatively correlated with team creativity. Human orientation, power distance, in-group collectivism, performance orientation, future orientation, assertiveness, and uncertainty avoidance moderated the relationship between leadership and team creativity. The research results help to further understand the mechanism underlying the influence of leadership on team creativity.

Participants showed great interest in the symposium, and the attending audience engaged in lively exchanges and discussions with each of the presenters after the presentations. The comments and feedback from others helped the researcher to further clarify the problems and logic of the study, which can be better improved and enhanced in future studies.
