Dr. YAN participated in the International Symposium on STEM Literacy held in Macau from February 15-16, 2025. The symposium was organized by the Faculty of Education at the University of Macau. It featured five distinguished international scholars specializing in STEM fields from the United States, the United Kingdom, and Israel, as well as over thirty young scholars from across China who presented their research during parallel and poster sessions. Additionally, more than seventy primary and secondary school teachers from Macau and Zhuhai attended the event.

The invited speakers delivered keynote addresses on current hot topics in STEM education, such as engineering education, affect and agency issues in STEM literacy, the nature of STEM literacies, and integrated STEM education models. Young scholars shared their recent research findings in various sessions covering STEM curriculum implementation, effective STEM learning strategies, STEM teacher professional development, STEM attitudes, STEM education theory and practices, and STEM teachers' educational beliefs.

Dr. YAN presented a paper titled "Exploring Chinese Primary Science Teachers' Views on Nature of Science Using the RFN Framework," which garnered significant attention and sparked extensive discussions among practitioners on how culture might influence science teachers beliefs on nature of science. Professor Sibel, one of the authors of the RFN framework and an editor for Science and Education, provided valuable feedback and constructive suggestions on further revisions of RFN questionnaire.
