- Research Fields：engineering education, assessment and evaluation in education, student learning and development，foundation of education
- Dr. Yu’s primary research interests include engineering students' learning engagement and learning outcomes, program accreditation in engineering education, evaluation and assessment in education, foundation of education, etc. He has published more than 15 articles in these research areas in journals such as "Research in Higher Education of Engineering" and "Tsinghua Journal of Education and Modern University Education". Dr. Yu has chaired multiple projects from Ministry of Education of China, Shanghai Education Commission and Shanghai Jiao Tong University, as well as a key project of “The 13th Five-year Plan” of National Education Science Planning Office.
Dr. Yu also served as a college student affairs administrator and a career development instructor. He received the title of excellent Communist Party member for serving World Expo from Shanghai Municipal Commission of education and health of the Communist Party of China, and the title of excellent student affairs administrator from Shanghai Jiao Tong University.
