Higher education research is coming across countless challenges with regard to its contribution to academic literature, policy-making, and institutional practice. Among these challenges lies a potential crisis that higher education researchers are becoming a shrinking and increasingly marginalized community. As the recent COVID-19 lockdowns continue, countless universities find creative ways to support their communities. On March 20, 2022 (Sunday), the School of Education (SOE), International Student Center, and International Student Service Center at Shanghai Jiaotong University (SJTU) came together and held the webinar “Let's Talk: The Stories of International Students”, focusing on supporting their international students on campus.

The crucial role of music in helping people tide through COVID-19 lockdowns was recently demonstrated at the Minhang campus of Shanghai Jiao Tong University when teachers sang for students confined to their dorms while delivering meals to them.

The National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) Excellent Young Scholars Fund (Overseas) aims to attract and encourage overseas outstanding young scholars (including non-Chinese foreigners) who have made good achievements in natural science, engineering and technology to work in China. 

U21 Education Innovation Symposium was held online from February 16th to 17th, with the theme of "Teaching for Sustainability", divided into six sessions, including Introduction to Teaching for Sustainability, Teaching Approaches, Faculty Development, and Looking Beyond the Campus: Partnerships for Sustainability. Faculty members from SOE, Dr. Chen Shuhua, and Dr. Yan Xiaomei attended the symposium.
